5 PhD and Postdoctoral Positions in Environment-driven Chromatin Dynamics

About us:
Organisms constantly sense, react and adapt to environmental changes, which is critical for their survival. Our research teams investigate the nuclear and gene regulatory processes that enable these critical cellular and organismal responses. We study our biological questions at the level of chromatin structure, epigenetics and transcriptional control, with a keen focus on identifying novel mechanisms that link cellular metabolites, DNA damage, signalling and mitochondrial function to these vital mechanisms of biological control. Wherever appropriate, we translate our basic discoveries into therapeutic approaches and entrepreneurial teams that develop new cures.

Successful candidates will pioneer new discoveries of biological regulation at the resolution from atoms to organisms and develop their expertise in state-of-the-art cellular, mechanistic, organismal and translational approaches covering:
• Biochemistry, Chemistry and AI-supported Structural and Chemical Biology
Characterizing chromatin-modifying complexes and histone variants at atomic or near-atomic resolutions.
• Cell and Molecular Biology
Dissecting protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions underpinning transcription and epigenetic regulation.
• Functional Genomics and Proteomics
Applying single-cell genomics, genome-wide-CRISPR approaches, mass spectrometry, and advanced life-cell imaging to map epigenetic and metabolic changes across the genome.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Teamwork
Engaging with experts in computational biology, metabolomics, single-cell and organismal biology to gain system-wide insights into gene regulation.
